Best Management Practices (BMP's) are state issued recommendations for avoiding and minimizing negative environmental and aesthetic impacts during timber harvesting. In some states, BMP's are regulations rather than recommendations. Contact your state Forestry Department or Cooperative Extension to learn about BMP's in your area.
